Marketing Early Childhood Education
Subject Description
Students examine marketing principles and practices as they apply to the manager's role in the operation of early childhood education centre. Participants will research and develop marketing plans through the identification of the needs of clients and market demands, including SWOT and PEST analyses. Strategies for effective program marketing, publicity, and promotion will be determined and evaluated for effectiveness. Through discussions, presentations, readings, research, assignments and practical applications, students have the opportunity to prepare and evaluate effective marketing plans.
This program is designed for professionals with an Early Childhood Education Diploma or recognized equivalent, who are now, or would like to be, administrators of child-care services. The program may also be of interest to child-care administrators who are: - currently learning "on the job" - early childhood educators seeking career advancement - employers encouraging staff development and training.
Credit Status
One credit towards the Early Childhood Administration Post-Diploma Certificate Program
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:
1. Examine the principles of effective service marketing, specific to the operation of Early learning and care programs.
2. Analyze the steps in developing a marketing plan including identifying market needs, client needs, and the marketable product/service.
3. Practice the use of SWOT and PEST analyses to determine effective strategic marketing plans.
4. Develop a marketing plan with goals, objectives, measurable outcomes, and method of evaluation.
5. Evaluate effective marketing strategies for publicity and promotion; including slogans, logos and websites.
6. Present a marketing plan that could be used for an ECE program.

Camera Use and Recordings - Synchronous (Live) Classes
Synchronous (live) classes may be delivered in person, in a Flexible Learning space, or online through a Seneca web conferencing platform such as MS Teams or Zoom. Flexible Learning spaces are equipped with cameras, microphones, monitors and speakers that capture and stream instructor and student interactions, providing an in-person experience for students choosing to study online.
Students joining a live class online may be required to have a working camera in order to participate, or for certain activities (e.g. group work, assessments), and high-speed broadband access (e.g. Cable, DSL) is highly recommended. In the event students encounter circumstances that impact their ability to join the platform with their camera on, they should reach out to the professor to discuss. Live classes may be recorded and made available to students to support access to course content and promote student learning and success.

An Early Childhood Education Diploma or equivalent and attendance at the mandatory orientation session.

Modes of Evaluation
Assignments / Presentations are to be grammatically correct, and marks will be deducted for errors in spelling, grammar, capitalization and punctuation. It is expected that students have a sufficient command of the English language to express their thoughts clearly in both written assignments and class discussions.

Students are strongly encouraged to attend all classes and assessments (online - participate in all learning activities). . It is your responsibility to cover any missed materials. Presentations or exams missed without sufficient documented reason, will result in a grade of zero for the missed assessment(s).
The student must attain a combined grade of at least 50% on the term work and the final exam to pass the course.
