Network Design

Subject Description

During this course, students will analyze technical requirements and design network
solutions that integrate and provision different types of traffic onto a common network.
Students will apply different types of services enabled via hardware, cloud and
software defined networks. Students will utilize this knowledge to create technical
report(s) and methodological topology(s) for the network.

1. Participate at each step of the network life cycle, to plan, design, implement,
operate and optimize the network
2. Identify technical and business-related goals and constraints to characterize
network traffic
3. Use design models, and addressing and numbering systems to perform
effective logic network designs
4. Select switching and routing protocols to satisfy service constraints
5. Develop network management and security strategies appropriate for the
customer needs
6. Select technologies and devices for Campus and Enterprise networks
7. Use the correct test commands and optimization procedures for different
network designs
8. Create technical documents to demonstrate network designs

Camera Use and Recordings - Synchronous (Live) Classes
Synchronous (live) classes may be delivered in person, in a Flexible Learning space, or online through a Seneca web conferencing platform such as MS Teams or Zoom. Flexible Learning spaces are equipped with cameras, microphones, monitors and speakers that capture and stream instructor and student interactions, providing an in-person experience for students choosing to study online.

Students joining a live class online may be required to have a working camera in order to participate, or for certain activities (e.g. group work, assessments), and high-speed broadband access (e.g. Cable, DSL) is highly recommended. In the event students encounter circumstances that impact their ability to join the platform with their camera on, they should reach out to the professor to discuss. Live classes may be recorded and made available to students to support access to course content and promote student learning and success.
