Business Processes I

Subject Description
This course enables students to gain a detailed understanding of the basic business processes required to support modern Supply Chains through the use of commercial Enterprise Resources Planning software (SAP S/HANA ERP system).

The course will focus on the functions required to support the Sales Process, the Procurement Process, and Production Process. Students will learn about the steps in these processes as well as the points of integration between them by performing hands-on exercises in the SAP system.

The students will experience firsthand how modern SAP ERP systems are able to automate and optimize the business processes in Global Supply Chains. This course will also provide a solid foundation for students who wish to pursue the SAP TS410 Certification.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

1. Recommend changes to business processes through the analysis the relationship between Business Functional Areas and Business Processes in a company.

2. Describe how the integration between key business processes can be used to obtain greater efficiency and effectiveness in business processes.

3. Discuss the importance and role of ERP Systems in planning and managing modern supply chains.

4. Demonstrate how the major processes of the Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, and Production reach across company boundaries in modern supply chains.

5. Use the SAP S/4HANA ERP system to automate and to optimize business processes in global supply chains.

6. Explain the relationship of the three main business processes to achieve a business objective.

Camera Use and Recordings - Synchronous (Live) Classes
Synchronous (live) classes may be delivered in person, in a Flexible Learning space, or online through a Seneca web conferencing platform such as MS Teams or Zoom. Flexible Learning spaces are equipped with cameras, microphones, monitors and speakers that capture and stream instructor and student interactions, providing an in-person experience for students choosing to study online.

Students joining a live class online may be required to have a working camera in order to participate, or for certain activities (e.g. group work, assessments), and high-speed broadband access (e.g. Cable, DSL) is highly recommended. In the event students encounter circumstances that impact their ability to join the platform with their camera on, they should reach out to the professor to discuss. Live classes may be recorded and made available to students to support access to course content and promote student learning and success.
