Security Management
Subject Description
This course presents the concepts of security management in an organizational context. The course covers the concepts of risk assessment and risk management. Security operations management is also covered in this course in a context of the organization and the cloud. The course also presents important security concepts such as identity and access management, and zero-trust architecture. The course includes a mixture of practical and theoretical skills within a cloud context.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:
- Describe the strategic and operational aspects of security and risk management to help an organization understand its risks.
- Analyze information security assets and risks in an organizational context to support the organizations in minimizing its risks.
- Design information security management programs to address threats and reduce their risk on organizational goals.
- Evaluate different industrial standards for information security management to measure their suitability for a given scenario.
- Propose security controls to address prioritized risks in an organizational context.

Camera Use and Recordings - Synchronous (Live) Classes
Synchronous (live) classes may be delivered in person, in a Flexible Learning space, or online through a Seneca web conferencing platform such as MS Teams or Zoom. Flexible Learning spaces are equipped with cameras, microphones, monitors and speakers that capture and stream instructor and student interactions, providing an in-person experience for students choosing to study online.
Students joining a live class online may be required to have a working camera in order to participate, or for certain activities (e.g. group work, assessments), and high-speed broadband access (e.g. Cable, DSL) is highly recommended. In the event students encounter circumstances that impact their ability to join the platform with their camera on, they should reach out to the professor to discuss. Live classes may be recorded and made available to students to support access to course content and promote student learning and success.
