ID Regulations
Tobacco: In Canada, it is against the law to sell cigarettes
and other tobacco products to young persons under the legal age. In
Ontario tobacco buyers must be 19. A government issued photo ID card is
required to buy tobacco products.
Smoking is prohibited in all public buildings in Ontario, including all
bars restaurants and casinos.
Alcohol: Licensed establishments in Ontario, such as bars and
restaurants, may only serve alcohol from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. It is
against the law to drink in unlicensed public places, including parks
and recreation areas.
Alcohol in bottles may only be purchased from government licensed
stores. Wine and spirits are sold by the Liquor Control Board of Ontario
(LCBO) outlets. Beer is sold at designated Beer Store outlets. Serving
or providing alcohol to people under 19 years of age is against the law.
Only an Ontario Photo Card, a passport, or government-issued photo
identification is valid for the purchase of alcohol.
